This is a very big step taken by Facebook this year. They have to be careful now with this feature, so the feature could not take their reputation away.
The Social Network will allow users to choose from a list of Goods available to the website and send them to their friends. The recipient will get the notification of gift received from one of his/her friend. He will need to fill the payment card and provide the address information where he wants to send the gift. The gift will appear to the filled location as soon as possible. A good feature of this Facebook Gift feature is the refundable payment if the gift is not received within two weeks.
Of course as reported in Washingtonpost, while presenting this feature to the world Facebook will have to take care of a couple of things. First is quality of goods, the users will need to put a lot of their confidence to their gift quality. Second is the user will be very careful about their privacy. Giving someone private address, contact information and credit card number is not an easy thing to do, especially for the people who are very curious about their privacy.
In a video where Facebook is unveiling this new feature of presenting gift to friends, people are sought to give Birthday presents to each other. They have already revealed the partnership with Starbucks in bringing out this feature to the 945 millions Facebook users. However, how will they be splitting the revenue among themselves and partners has not been revealed so far.
